| Meet the Pro
Originally from Windsor Connecticut, Jim Becker, Director of Golf for Tower Ridge moved south with his family to Atlanta, Georgia for his junior year in high school. Jim accepted a golf scholarship at the University of Georgia and attended the business school majoring in general management. He was an All Southeastern C onference and All American collegiate golfer at UGA. He was voted most valuable player his senior year. His teammates included Bill Kratzert, Tim Simpson, and Chip Beck (Mr. 59). In January 2010, Jim was inducted into his high school Hall of Fame in Marietta, Georgia.
Jim's extensive playing background has included competing in events on the PGA, European, Nationwide, Canadian and South African Tours. He has won over 50 golf tournaments worldwide including the Southern Juniors, the Chris Schenkel Intercollegiate, the New England Open, The Connecticut Open twice, and most recently the Vermont, Rhode Island and Cape Cod Senior Opens.
Along the way, Jim has achieved 27 years of teaching experience. Recently, he has worked with Fran Quinn, who has won two times within the last year on the Nationwide Tour and is currently a member of the 2010 PGA Tour.
Jim also has the experience of 15 years in golf retail sales including three years of managing a multi-million dollar golf discount store. Under his management the store achieved its first million-dollar month of sales. His
expertise in club fitting includes extensive knowledge of innovative shafts, grip size, and golf ball technology.
Jim lives on Simsbury Mountain with his wife Geena, a Realtor with William Raveis Real Estate. He has a son Brandon, who is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University.
